The Cariboo Regional District (CRD), the City of Quesnel and West Fraser are delighted to announce the North Cariboo Arena Project’s official naming as the West Fraser Centre.
“I would like to sincerely thank West Fraser for their continued support of our North Cariboo communities,” stated CRD Vice-Chair Ted Armstrong. “Your generosity and financial support of this project is a testament of dedication to the north Cariboo and its residents.”
“West Fraser’s contribution to our new arena is very much appreciated and I thank them for standing behind their original commitment to the project. This is a corporation who has supported many initiatives in our community,” said Quesnel Mayor Mary Sjostrom. “I look forward to the first event in the West Fraser Centre.”
“Our employees and their families have built their lives here. It’s important for all of us to be a part of making Quesnel an exceptional place to live,” said Ray Ferris, West Fraser’s VP of Wood Products. “We are pleased to support the continued vitality of the communities of Quesnel and the Cariboo through the West Fraser Centre, which will be a lasting benefit to the health and well-being of everyone in the region.”
An early supporter of the project, West Fraser’s steadfast commitment of $1 million to the arena project is a $500,000 contribution and an additional $500,000 of matching monies to encourage community donations. West Fraser’s donation means every dollar of local community fundraising contributions, including the seat sale program and the mural, will bring the project closer to its funding goals.
A celebration to recognize the naming of West Fraser Centre and community kick-off of the project is being planned for October 24, 2014.
West Fraser Centre will be an energy efficient “green” structure that will house a 1,600-seat arena with a regulation size ice surface and dry floor space for arena programs and events to be run year round. The Centre will also feature an indoor walking track and rooms for community meetings and gatherings. Be part of it – West Fraser will match your contributions! Donation options start at just $25, visit ncarenaproject.com for details and donation forms.
